Live cell imaging has become a fundamental tool for the analysis of interactions of fully virulent pathogens with host cells. Thus, this module provides state of the art microscopic analyses to the participants of SFB 796. The microscopy system, a fully equipped Leica SP5 confocal laser scanning microscope, enables users to follow infection of host cell and subsequent manipulation of host cell processes with highest temporal and spatial resolution. The users are guided from the experimental design through the execution of live cell imaging experiments to the computer-assisted analyses and quantification of the data obtained:
